She was born in Denmark
What is her purpose?

the former Birgitte Henrikson van Deurs, the present Duchess of Gloucester, incorporates out numerous Royal responsibilities on behalf of her husband's cousin, Queen Elizabeth II (as shown by skill of one among tthe 2d link below). The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester are mothers and dads of three grownup babies (one son and a couple of daughters) who do no longer carry out any royal responsibilities. previously her marriage, the Duchess of Gloucester lived in Cambridge and London the place she labored for the Danish Embassy. The Duchess isn't a senior Royal, and little question enjoys her privateness, no longer putting herself forward as a results of fact the Duchess of Kent does. that doesn't unavoidably propose that she is unduly reserved. certainly, her time table shows otherwise.

Birgitte Eva Henriksen (maiden name) married Prince Richard of Gloucester, the second eldest son of The Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester and The Duchess of Gloucester. The marriage took place on 8 July 1972 at St. Andrew's Church, Barnwell, Northamptonshire. At that date she was styled Her Royal Highness Princess Richard of Gloucester.
Six weeks after their wedding, Prince Richard's elder brother, Prince William, was killed in a flying accident. Prince Richard unexpectedly became heir to the Dukedom and upon his father's death in 1974, the couple became Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.
The Duchess of Gloucester is patron of a large number of organisations, many of which have medical, educational or welfare connections. She has also accompanied the Duke of Gloucester on his official visits overseas: her first such visit was in 1973, when The Duke and Duchess represented The Queen at the 70th birthday celebrations of King Olav V of Norway.
The Duchess is also sponsor of two Royal Navy Ships: HMS Gloucester and HMS Sandown

Below is here Wikipedia entry. She has the title because her husband is the Duke of Gloucester. So far as I can tell, she doesn't do a whole lot besides the usual stuff that wives of the nobility do (i.e., serves on the boards of charities and makes public appearances).

What the hell do you mean 'Who is she, where did she come from and what is her purpose?'. Who are you, where do you come from, what is your purpose? She's a human being who happens to have done rather well for herself. Sour grapes?

The 'Duchess of Gloucester' is married to the 'Duke of Gloucester',who was blinded(had his eyes poked out!),
which lead to retribution against the couple who did that to him,'Regan & her husband'.They go on trial, in 'London' in summer.
The 'Duchess of Gloucester' will probably be travelling alone.
It's possible that her son,Edgar, may accompany her.She loves visiting hospitals. Her last public appearance was near to 'Dover'.
