If you showed him the correct property line and he went over it, he is responsible. You are responsible if you showed him the wrong property line. In the case where the installer disappears off the face of the earth, the property owner would ultimately be responsible for correcting the problem

You are the property owner, and it's your baby. You could get with the contractor and determine who made the mistake. It shouldn't be that big a deal, they'll get a concrete saw and make a cut on the property line and then your done.

If you can prove that he made the mistake you can try to get him to fix it. You may have to pay someone else to fix it and try sending the bill to the first contractor. But you may have to take him to court. It could become more costly and more of a hassle than it's worth.

Is your relationship with your neighbor good? Speak to him and see if he'll be a little patient while you work things out with the contractor.

Who made the plans that the contractor followed and did he/she follow them?
