Our own intelligence community in its Global Terrorism report confirms what you say. The longer we stay the more terrorists will be recruited.

Possibly, however, both sides dislike us and want us to leave, so that's a moot point. As for breeding more terrorism, I would have to disagree.
Continuing to stay in Iraq will breed terrorism. The longer our forces are deployed the more they will hate us. I would also disagree that having Iraqi's immigrating here will make us less safe. First, many Vietnamese immigrated here after the war and didn't pose a threat.
Staying in Iraq is also doing more harm than good. The longer we are there the more co-dependent they become on us, and that's bad for everyone.

~Common sense is five years too late. Common sense 5 years ago dictated that what is happening today was inevitably going to happen. Forget about the illegality and immorality of the invasion. Given a little common sense, coupled with an elementary knowledge of the history of the area, it was only too obvious that neither war could be won and that civil war (and ethnocide) could be the only result of the invasion. Duh, the obvious happens and now folks wonder why and want out.
Some might be upset and feel we took sides? We engaged in an illegal, unprovoked immoral invasion of a sovereign state under false pretenses, toppled their government, forced a new one on them they didn't understand and don't want and won't be able to sustain, we killed thousands of civilians and non-combatants, destroyed their economy, unleashed an internal strife on them that had been held in check for decades by the tyrant that ruled them, and you wonder if they might be upset if we leave - or if we stay and continue to kill them off?. Don't you think some people might already be a little miffed. Doesn't the fact that patriots are willing blow themselves up just to take out a few GI's suggest that they might be something less than ecstatic that their homeland is being occupied by an invading army? If anything can unite the Iraqi's it would be their hatred of America and friends.
Of course, when I said that years ago, I was labeled unpatriotic, treasonous, a pinko, fascist, commie and like epithets by almost everyone I debated the issue with, including friends. I was invited to leave the country on more than one occasion because of my "unamerican" beliefs.
Golly gee, turns out I was right. Amazing how so many are clamoring today to get out when they were so vociferously supporting going in in the first place such a short time ago. The illegal invasions (leave us not forget Afghanistan - other than the production of a record poppy crop last year, our invasion there has accomplished nothing either) were doomed to failure from the outset and, lo and behold, they failed. The civil war rages. The only force in modern Iraqi history able to stem the tide of the eternal intra-moslem warfare, Saddam, is dead. The inevitable power vacuum in the Middle East has arrived. With no one to keep her in check, Iran grows more boisterous by the day. The warlords continue to rule Afghanistan. History prevails. And American (and allied) troops continue to be part of the slaughter (albeit a small part, as is the norm when the US goes to war). The hawks have turned to doves, but why are they not choking on the crow they should be eating?
Ah, yes, it is the ignorant Iraqis who are at fault here. They didn't appreciate the largesse of Uncle Sam invading them, tossing out their government with no thought of what to do next and then have a totally foreign concept of government thrown on them. To the typical Iraqi citizen, democracy and liberal western freedoms are as alien as is the idea of Pamela Anderson in a bharka to her fans or as fidelity is to Madonna. And nobody saw this coming? Well, people were surprised that bin Laden (and a myriad of others) are displeased with American hubris and foreign policy and have the gumption to do something about it, so, yes, I suppose the obvious can be invisible to the blind.
Will staying or leaving breed more terrorism. Of course. Either way. But not nearly as much as our being there in the first place already has. So what do we do to counter the bad will we have created and continue to create? We talk of invading Korea and Iran. Hey, why not? Two more unwinable wars might take people's minds off of the current ones. When things started going badly in Afghanistan, Gerogie went after Iraq and we watched with glee the stealths take out hospitals and apartment buildings and we were aghast that the invading barbarians were not greeted with kisses and hugs. But, everyone forgot about Afghanistan, at least for awhile.
China is not really fond of the US government and is more than a little nervous about our nuclear, chemical and biological weapons. Does that give China the right to march on Washington or to blast New York back to the Stone Age? Would that please you? Well, isn't that exactly what we have done and are doing in Afghanistan and Iraq and now talking of doing in Iran and North Korea. How do you think the common Iraqi civilian feels. How about the power hungry, bloodthirsty Saddam wannbes?
With all the hoopla about the firecracker North Korea just lit and the demand that Unc unload on Pyongyang, it is pretty obvious that history's lessons are just too difficult for some to learn. Maybe when the next plane that flies into a building is loaded with a nuke or some nifty chemicals or virus, we will start to take the hint. Nah, "my country, right or wrong" and the neocon bigots will once again prevail. The 60's ARE dead. And so too will be mankind if we stay the course we are so hell bent on following. When the fecal effluent hits the rotary cooling device, immigration will be a moot point. Nowhere will be habitable for anything other than the ants and the cockroaches.

First of all, we're not fighting the civil war as in we are not participants, nor are we targets. If anything, our presence there restricts the violence. There are two factions involved: the Arab-Sunni and the Arab-Shi'ite. Iran supports the Shi'ites and Saudi Arabia supports the Sunni. Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah said that if US forces pulled out of Iraq, the Saudis would be forced to support the Sunni.
If the coalition forces leave, the civil war escalates. Iran will not hold back anything. The fear that the US can and will strike back tenfold if they resort to biological or nuclear weapons with our troops there keeps them at bay. With coalition forces in Iraq, Saudi Arabia is held back. Imagine what sort of war would happen between Saudia Arabia and Iran. Imagine what would happen if we left, the Saudis lost, and Iran had control of Iraq and the wealth of the oil. What would happen to Israel? Where would that put us?

At this point, even our so-called allies in Iraq have become disillusioned with the USA following Bush's incompetence and don't really like us. I would very be surprised if we had many Iraqi immigrants.
They just had a massive protest there demanding and end to the US occupation, so it seems to me, we have a way out now. Yet, we're not leaving because of all that OIL.

There hasn't been a single act of domestic terrorism since 9/11...which was over HALF A DECADE AGO.
The concept of domestic terrorism is merely an "imaginary monster" which allows the government to do whatever they please inside and outside our borders...the Patriot Act, Homeland Security Surveilance, the War on Terror, etc etc.

How can we leave Iraq and fight the civil war for them? The Sunni vs. Shi'a violence isn't something the US is going to end anytime soon. Islam is undergoing its Reformation and Inquisition simultaneously, and the US can't stop it short of thermonuclear/biowarfare genocide..

D@mned if we do, d@mned if we don't. That's the way I see it. It's a big old mess any way you slice it. Ugly Betty is mentally nearsighted, but that's OK--i am hear to help her. She can not see the bigger picture regarding the oil. Yes, it is about oil and the world needs its free flow. You will be the first one to scream about gas prices if terrorism is allow to rule the oil reserves. Even the very smart Hillary Clinton--highly touted by her intellectual peers--has acknowledged this fact.

We arent really fighting a civil war for them. We are freeing the Iraqi people. I believe that they should have a chance at a democracy, so we shouldnt pull out till they have an army that can fight terrorist themselves.
