Good question.

I think that it's an ignorant word for Blacks and Non-Blacks alike.

The most ignorant thing another Af-Am person or anyone could say is that there is a difference between "N-i-g-g-a" and "N-i-g-g-e-r" and that the intent between the two are significantly different.

To that, I say; "It's not what you're called, but what you answer to."

Listen dear, I'm Af-Am and I don't say it myself. It's a very ignorant word.
You nor your wife should be using the word; and the pastor sounds like a straight-up dimwit!

Sorry, I know that's not the answer you were looking for.

Why the hell r u asking us? Ask her how she would feel having her non-Black husband call her a ****** or a ****** even in jest. But then again I'm bias becuz I'm educated and I personally think the word is just a word like any other and anyone without color boundaries can be a ******. The meaning of the word is "low and degenerate" and in my life time (51 yrs.) I have met many a ******* that fit that description and most weren't Black people. And stop thinking so niggerishly.

It pisses me off to see how my words get censored all the time on Yahoo without my permission especially when I'm not being offensive but demonstrating a bit of education and excersing my God given right in these United States to say and write whatever I wish to write or say under the protection of the First Amendment. If any one feels offended by the excersise of someone who has protected this great Nation abroad in whatever capacity excersing his right then they need to go back to their country of origin with their backward ideas and thoughts of monopolizing our free country.

Because you married a black women it does not give you any right... You married the woman, not the race. and btw the word means disrespect, that you are trying to put someone down, even if it is said jokingly. I am guessing you are white, since you married a black woman, the black people now have the right to call you a red neck, a honky or a cracker, correct?

That's such a sore spot. Many people will say it means this or that by dictionary but the association of the word can not be expressed in words. The term, for me, has a component that causes fear, true fear, angry, resentment and a easily hurts self-esteem. Yes I know it should not but it does and you asked. I told my son to not use that word, he now says Ninja but when his girlfriends father REFUSES to let her date a "black boy" he starts to understand. I would believe you do not say it with the hate and disrespect some may convey, but again, it is not a positive word. Only my opinion.

Most dont think anyone should really use that word regaurdless of thier color, but most use it like in a way to greet saying hi these days so its meaning has changed a lot(in a street way anyway). My white bf uses it, but only with his friends who know he dont mean anything disrespectful by it, its just like saying whats up brother, etc. I think its all on how you say it, if you say it in a disrespectful way, or to someone you never even talked to before who isnt used to hearing that word out of a light skinned person they would get upset over it, and youll have a problem, but these days everyone uses it so a lot of people dont have a problem with it as long as you dont mean anything by it.

That's total BS...no it doesn't give you the right to call her or any black person by the N-word just because you're married to a black person. I'm black and I hate it that some of us use that word to call our other black friends by it's total bs cause the second they turn your back and some white person calls them that they see it as racist....no one should be allowed to use it period.

Dat not nice!! Not nice at all.You should be ashamed of your self for calling her that.Good thing you aren't married to some of the black women I know. You'd be hurting right now.Maybe I should introduce you to my black brother-n-law.He'd have a few words for you,I'm sure..
Would you want your wife to call you "Cracker",or "Honky"? No you wouldn't...And as for the Pastor,he sounds like my ex-boss..Not nice at all..Not at all.....

NO! you most certainly do not have the right to use the N word. My husband is white and he used it once while we were talking and I swear it took everything I had not to go off on him. If you love your wife why would you want to use a word that might possible offend her?

That is not in the marriage vows and if you love your wife you won't use that word!

Tying a knot to someone means you love him/her and you`re ready to share every aspect of your life....There isn`t any person in this planet who wants to lead a life of sorrow and hate. Why not respect her as a human being and your life partner? That`ld help you to be happy in future...
