Even with gas prices, Driving will be about half the cost (including fast food and such) Get a good camera, check out http://ghosttowns.com/ and have fun. Or you could be a grumpy gus and take someone to take turns driving and make it in a day.

There are three ways:

You or a friend/relative drive it for the cost of the trip.
Hire someone you know or from a service to drive it, same as above plus a fee.
Have it trucked. This is a little less flexible (they wait until they have a full truck carrier to make the trip, and delivery to a specific city or address may cost more).

Try searching on things like "car delivery service".

If you use a drive/truck delivery service, search the web on the company name for any problems that people may have encountered with that company. There are some bad stories out there, but most do the job right.

If you have a firm do this delivery for you, make sure you understand if the delivery is insured or warrantied in any way, what your rights are, what their responsibilities are, and what the claim process entails if there are any problems.

There are commercial car carriers that will transport it. You may be able to find someone else in the AF who also has to go to TX, and he may want to drive it out there for you. For a fee and expenses. Either that or sell it in NC and get another one when your son is in TX.
