Is there a way to get and use a normal ignition key that doesn't have the big bulky chip on the end? I carry enough keys in my pocket and now I have a new key that's larger than all the other keys put together. I bought a new Mini Cooper.

you can try to cut the key off the chip you will need to tie the chip part next to where the key goes in it may just work
i would first try to get the locksmith cut you a door key without the chip and tie the whole key next to the key hole to see if it will work first as that key is rather pricey

Since the chip in the key is part of your security system the answer is no unless someone makes a bypass for it.

some cars are required to use that big key, and you wont be able to make a small copy or anything, some of them you can. give your dealer a call, they'll help you.

Not normally. That is part of your security system, and it may cancel your theft insurance if you defeat it.
