I watched a couple of programs about the Titanic this morning, a topic which fascinates me. They were taking some artifacts off the ship for display in a museum, and the only thing I could think of was it was akin to grave robbing. This ship was a grave for over 1000 people. Do you think it's right that they take their personal belongings and display them? What historical significance does a lady's watch have? I think they should leave these people to rest in their watery grave. My husband says its so the tragedy won't ever be forgotten, and after we're gone it will continue to educate future generations. What do you think?

Why leave it down there to rot? What is wrong with bringing things up ? They can be a reminder of those who were lost and a way to remember and honor them.

Yes, but the thing about the Titanic is the items weren't placed in there by the wishes of the deceased, unlike a regular grave. As for the people down there, I think they should be given a proper burial.

Heck yes, put the artifacts on display for all to enjoy. There are war museums all over the place, why not the Titanic?

I think it's the right thing to do. By taking their personal belongings on display it will tell us the story of each individual who died and give us the chance to get to know that person better.

In the case of the Titanic I think everything that went down should stay down. I agree with you on that it is grave robbing.
