I am trying to buy a walking stick ferrule for a relative. I know they currently have a 5/8 ferrule but I can't work out what this is in metric. Some of the websites I have looked at have listed metric measurements of 16mm and 19mm - so is one of these 5/8?? HELP!?

There are 25.4 mm in each inch.
5/8 inch = 0.625 inch
So, 5/8 inch = 0.625 * 25.4 = 15.875 mm

So you need a 16 mm ferrule

Hmmm, I found one site that says at 7 week a fetus should be an half inch long. 5.8 mm is a little over a quarter of an inch. My guess is that she may be a few days or even a week off on how far along she is. Or maybe the baby should be experiencing a growth spurt soon. It doesn't seem to be a huge developmental delay, so trust your doctor. If he just wants to do a follow-up scan, he may be checking to see if the fetus has caught up in lenght or continues to look a bit behnd or doesn't grow at all. If the fetus doesn't grow at all, then it would be time to worry. But if it catches up, it's fine, and if it continues to grow but is smaller than the week she thinks she is, chances are she's only 6 weeks instead of 7. It happens. An ultrasound is much more accurate at telling you how far along you are and when your due date will be than counting from your last period. everything's probably fine. My little boy consistently measures smaller than my LMP would say (2 weeks smaller!) so they just moved my due date back two weeks since he seems to be doing fine. It happens. Don't worry too much (I know that's a lot to ask), just enjoy your next ultrasound.

5 8 To Mm

Since an inch is about 25.4 millimeters, all you have to do to convert from inches to millimeters is multiply 25.4 by 5/8, and you get 15.875. So, it's pretty close to 16mm.

In the first few weeks here ultrasound can identify a fetus , the average size is 1 mm per weeks of gestation . that having been said , 5.8 mm would correlate with about 6 weeks pregnant . Considering that an EDC based on her cycle may be off as much as week ( because not every woman ovulates on day 13 of their cycle) , this all correlates. the doctor is just double checking because they are being thurough . Good luck . ~Ej

I assume you mean the diameter of the ferrule is 5/8ths of an inch?

1 inch is 25.4mm
(25.4 ÷ 8) x 5 = 15.875mm (16mm to round it off)

One inch = 25.4 mm
5/8 inch = 15.9 mm
A 16 mm ferrule will probaly work since .1 mm is very very small

5/8 of an inch = 0.625 inches

0.625 inches * (25.4 mm per inch) = 16 mm

It is actually about 15.875 mm, metric and standard are not always interchangeable depending on how tight of a clearance you are looking at.
