I dont think I have a blocked tube.... but I have been TTC for a year now, and nothing. Every other test is fine, and I have been pregnant before (2001, miscarriage) but now Im TTC and I cant. So is there any way tubes can just become blocked??? I have never had any kind of infection or STD, so if you have had a blocked tube, what caused yours, and how did you find out?? just kind of curious, process of elimination I guess. Thanks everyone!!!

The only time I have ever seen a women with blocked tubes, in my experience, is after some type of infection, or STD. If you've had neither chances are your tubes aren't blocked. I havent experienced blocked tubes, just to be blocked.

I had blocked tubes. No idea how that happened as I had no infection. I was on the pill for 2 years - maybe that was the cause, don't know. I underwent a procedure called Hysterosalpingogram (HSG) to unblock the tubes. They insert fluid into the tubes via the vagina. It's very painful and I nearly passed out, but was pregnant a month later.

In order to see if your tubes are blocked, you doctor will insert a balloon into your uterus through your vagina, and insert dye that they will follow on a monitor to see if your tubes are blocked. You are awake during this procedure. If there isn't a blockage there is just usually mild cramping. If one/both is blocked this can hurt like hell. Sorry to be so blunt

In response to above poster. Hsg isn't a test to unblock the tube. Its to see if the tube is blocked. In some cases it can unblock the tube if it's just a small blockage.
