yes. Mistakes are all apart of the process. You learn from them, they can make you stronger and sometimes they are tasty (like when you mess up a cupcake) :-D

Yes. I believe mistakes are better then school books when it comes to learning something. I mean sometimes the books don't make sense but when you experience it first-hand it makes more sense. They help us learn some of the most important lessons in life.
