Previous answerers have told you that the fastest trains from Rome to Venice is the ES (Eurostar).- However it's also the most expensive - Eurostar ticket- standard rate costs € 74 in first class and € 51,00 in second class.-
What about to hop instead on the ICN (Intercity night) ,sleep overthere by saving 1 night hotel room cost and pay for the train ticket € 52,50 in first class and € 36,50 in second class ?You'll be early in the morning at Venice ready for your visit without wasting this time for the trip during the day.
The train leaves from Roma Termini at 22,50 and arrives to Venezia S.Lucia at 05,24.- It takes 6h 34 minutes.
