They just found out a 1 month ago he has less than 6 mo. , the perfect man, gentleman. Mom is heart broken. Would love to give a gift to make her smile...even if just for a moment. Any ideas

Wow...I'm so sorry for her, that's rough.
I would say contact her friends and family, and find as many photos of the 2 of them together you can find. Put those all in a scrapbook for her and him to look at while he's still in good enough shape to enjoy it. I know for me, I have photos of all sorts of people, but few of my husband and I--because I'm usually taking the pictures.

if cost is really no problem, get ahold of their favorite football player and tell him their situation and ask him if he would be so kind as to pay them a visit. I'm almost certain he would come since the situation is so serious. you could take lots of pictures, get autographs, video the whole visit, and it would be a great gift to both your mom and her husband.
I'm truly sorry for your whole family. it's hard when you know that you're losing someone that you love. but as Christians, we know that it's not goodbye. we will be reunited with our loved ones in Heaven. and there will be no more tears, pain, sickness, sorrow, or grief.
I will keep your family in my prayers.

How about a really nice picture book or scrap book with nice pictures to remind them of all the good times. It might take some effort, but they can look over it and remember.

How sad! I don't imagine anything would make me smile, in that situation. What about scrapbook supplies? They can look at photos together and share memories while making somthing she will always have to remember him by.
