Carrot seeds,?

Question

Do carrots have seeds or do you plant the greens on top to grow a carrot.

Looked at a carrot and diddent see any seeds.

You said you looked at a carrot and didn't see seeds. This is because the carrot is a modified root. You will never find seeds in the root! Seeds are produced in little ovaries at the base of the flowers that the greens of the carrot produce. :-)

Carrots are biennial, that is they don't produce the seed until the second year. Since we eat the carrot (the root) we don't see the flowers. However, if you leave them in the ground over winter and let them grow and flower, you'd see a flower head like Queen Anne's Lace...well, sorta......and then the seed.

Carrot seed is rather fine, I mix it with some dirt or sand when sowing so I don't accidently put a dozen seed in one spot.

All Plants Make Seed As Long As They Are Not Sterile. As Far As I Know Carrots Do Make Seed. Think They Are Biennials.

Carrot seeds are super cheap for cropping varieties, the best way to grow is to sieve the soil in you're plot and add a lil sand to it. plant them in early spring and at the start of summer and you can get 2 crops.

Planting them is simplicity itself, i plant at 1cm depth, give them a good water and forget them until they're ready.

The sieving process gets rid of any stones that the carrot ends up growing into and deforming it.

Carrots are great if you have kids, they tug on the green leaves and see this giant carrot pop out, shock and awe follows.
