No, college isn't necessary for acting. Experience is what you need. Try out for every school play you can; look around for a community theater group that has open auditions. If you do go to college, join the theater group, or even major in theater arts if they offer that.

If you quickly do a search for famous actresses and actors and cross reference it with college degrees...I am sure you will find out that the answer is NO! If many of them did go to college, it is usually not for acting or drama. I am a firm believer that some people just do not have that natural talent needed for acting and no amount of courses/credits/degrees can help them. So if you are really that good please do not think that school is the only way to go for your career. It may help you build on what you already know, but I doubt it can make you a STAR!

You don't have to go to college to be an actor, but, having a theatre degree is good if you are serious about becoming a professional actor. Agents and casting directors like to see that an actor graduated from a well-respected University with a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre. Having it is a plus and will put you ahead of actors without the degree. The degree should be from a school with an excellen acting program.

I know of a New York City Talent Agent that ONLY interviews actors with a Bachelor's or Master's in Theatre. If you can major in theatre, at a top college do it, as it will put you ahead of other actors, when it comes to meeting talent agents and casting directors.

I would suggest that the more you learn, the better an actress you'll be. My recommendation would be to try to qualify for one of the more impressive acting schools associated with a university. Yale, NYU, Carnegie-Mellon, Juilliard.

Acting demands good analytical skills, a sound knowledge of history and literature and a capacity for language far above average.

There are no shortcuts. You'll have to work at it, and work at it very long and hard.

no matter where or what cereer ur going to u need to go to collage. why because if you owned a business would hire a person that went to collage or a person thats off the streets even though they are both just as grate as each other. of course one that you can trust not some body that dosnt no the rules and stuff ths should be known. and if you go and get ur masters and batchlers degree and you go and work at wal mart you will get payed more than what the other people are even though its the same job and they worked there longer than you.so its best to go and get an eduction.

No, but if you have trouble getting roles in community theater and still want to act, you should go to college. Get involved in the theater department, get cast in some shows, and build up your bio.

No. It's all about networking, who you know and who you are related to for the most part.
