Honestly, it's a waste.
Double-major if you want to and then go get a Master's in one field you care about. The time-demand is similar and it'll be worth more in the long-run.

Yes, I assume you can. I did a Double Major (B.A.S) and tried to take 15 Hours every Semester to work everything in, I did 18 hours once, but, that was too much for me, so, never tried that again. 15 hours should be the limit. I already had my Math, English etc. from a Community College so all I had to do was concentrate on those Majors, of which some courses pertained to both. This took 5 years as I also wanted to take some other courses of interest to me.
I need to add, what I did, was sit down with the counselor at my College and explained what I was doing. She understood and I just chose my own curriculum outside of the norm.

You could major in as much as you want to. I just wonder why you would want to. Sociology and Communication often focus on similar areas of study, so I'm not sure that you get anything more out of the Communication major. The key is to get the degree, and if you want to take more college courses, get a Master's degree, which will be more valuable to you.

You need to ask your dean, but keep in mind that it will take you longer to complete college. As long as you don't mind spending the extra time - I say go for it. And if your dean says no, then just complete one major then "change your mind" and tell them you want to change majors. Students do it all the time. Or you could complete your double major then return for a second degree.

My boyfriend completed 4 majors within 4 years. It helps if the requirements are similar. I'm not convinced that there's a huge benefit to multiple majors though, unless they're appreciably unrelated.

Double major and make communication your minor to lessen the workload.

If you want that load, then go for it! I have found those degrees are mostly worthless in helping to get a job, though.
