Soak the spot well with a liquid dish detergent, and scrub gently. Put the shirt to soak in some water overnight. Rinse and check the spot. Often the dish soap will be effective to dissolve the grease. If it is still there, follow with a stain remover spray and then wash in the machine again. If the mark remains, repeat the procedure. DO NOT WASH IN HOT WATER OR PUT THE SHIRT IN THE DRYER until the stain has been removed. Heat sets stains.

If it is only grease then work some washing up liquid into the stain with your fingers until it has gone and then rewash Mixing some lighter fluid with the washing up liquid will help. this should do it if not then it is more than grease and may need some bleaching. If the garment is white any bleach will do but if it is coloured a oxygen based bleach is best. Oxyaction is quite good.

If the mark keeps to be, repeat the technique. do not WASH IN warm WATER OR placed THE shirt in the DRYER till the stain has been bumped off. warmth instruments stains.

Spray some laundry spot remover like Shout on the stain. Let it soak 24 hrs to 1 week (the longer the better). Launder as usual. Let air dry. The heat of the dryer will set the stain. Check to see if the stain is gone. If not, then repeat the process.

Dawn dishwashing liquid - take a little and sort of "scratch" it in with your fingernail through to the back side, let it sit for about a half hour, and then rewash. The detergent will break up the grease in the fabric just like it does on dishes.

A product called Gojo, a hand pumice cleaner used to remove grease works great on clothing as well. I use it to remove any kind of grease on clothing. Recently used it to remove melted popcorn butter and all traces of stain was gone. Just rub well into stain and wash, then air dry. Find it in auto isles of grocery stores or any where auto products are sold.

Sprinkle the stain with Baking Soda, scrub gently with a wat scrub brush.

Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the washer and launder as usual.

Spray with Formula 409, wash as usual.

Wash with a cup of White Vinegar.

Rub Lestoil into spots that have been in clothing for a while and wash.

When this happens to me, i add a couple of drops of washing up liquid and leave for an hour, wash as normal and the stain should have gone. Very cheap and very effective.
