Maybe you will just have to be a ***** to everyone for a while. When a woman smokes the nicotine causes the baby's heart to go double it's normal rate, so try to think of your little bundle of joy in there with it's heart racing away.

This is very tough. I quit smoking on my own about a year and a half ago. I was not pregnant, but just wanted to quit. I kept a LOT of sugar free candy around and found habits to replace smoking. If i was driving down the road I had a sucker, if it was my break at work, I read a book. That was the most important thing for me, because if it was a time when I normally smoked, that is what I wanted to do. Eventually my new habits became routine and it made it easier. But, I am afraid you will be a ****** for a while. I actually broke down in tears on my 3rd day. Good luck to you!

Maybe try hypnotherapy? That way, there are no drugs involved. Or, maybe just read this:
A woman who smokes while she is pregnant has a greater chance of having a premature (early) birth, a small baby, or a stillborn baby. If the mother smokes while pregnant, there is also an increased risk of the baby dying during the first year of life. Some types of birth defects have been linked to the mother's smoking.
Birth defects that may be increased when the mother smokes include: cleft lip, cleft palate, clubfoot, limb defects, some types of heart defects, gastroschisis (an opening in the muscles of the abdomen that allows the intestines to appear outside the body), and imperforate anus ...

That should scare you straight!

Who cares what anyone thinks of you while you quit? You need to think about the BABY!
It's going to be hard. I know. But keep reminding yourself of that little developing baby inside you and the nasty smoke and chemicals you are inhaling. You have to quit fast! Try cutting your number per day in half every day or two. Cold turkey is too hard, I think. But you better make a plan and get on it quick...for the baby!!!
Good luck, you can do it...and to he77 with everyone else!

your going to be that way anyways, but your body is no longer your own. so now is the time to understand that your life is no longer your own, you are having a child and smoking while carrying that child may ruin that fetus. you are now in the position of having to take your wants and needs and put them aside to do what is best for someone else. so ask yourself would you have wanted your mother smoking while she was carring you? if she did do you think that it was fair of her to decided to risk your health because of a habit?
the decisions that you make now are going to reflect the decisions that you make as you raise your child, i hope they are positive ones for the both of you.
if you really want to quit just do it. no cruthes or patches, just throw them away and never look back. it only takes 3 days for the physical craving to fade and 30 for the emontional. start walking it will be good for both of you and when you are feeling that need for a smoke, have a piece of fruit or a vegtable. it took me 3 months when i quit to want to even try to smoke again, it made me sick as a dog and by the way you will notice how bad smokers smell. and yes you do smell that way...lol i found that out also after i quit.

There is nothing they make that will go just to you, Chantix is a medication you take orally so that goes right in to your system, the patch is absorbed through your skin into your system..honestly there is NOTHING that you can do but stop.
However to cause yourself less stress while pregnant you should ask your doctor if cutting way down is better then just quitting and throwing your body into withdrawls.
I however would assume that just quitting would be much better then cutting down.

I am 6 months pregnant and spent my first 4 months sick all the time. I was still smoking at 2 months pregnant but one day I lit a cigarette and it made me sick and ever since then the smell of it makes me want to vomit. Maybe it will do the same for you eventually.

Try to cut down first. When I quit smoking, I allowed myself a cigarette after work every day for a week. I chewed gum all the time. I ate carrotts and sunflower seeds all day long too. Anything to keep your mouth busy. Hang the worries about your weight for now. If you can do those two things, you'll be ok.

I don't know how long you have been smoking but I also use to be a smoker! And I realized what I was doing to myself and I just quit! That might be really hard for you but you need to think of yourself and your unborn baby!

Good for you for thinking of your baby!! And thank you!!
Search for support groups. Its not gonna be easy. BUT ever time you want a cig, think of your baby. (and eat a carrot...LOL)
Call your doctor for support groups in the area. Remember after the first few days, then it gets better.
I'm rooting for ya.
AS far as not being a ***** to everyone..... Go on a private holiday for a week. ALONE.... LOL
