Although Roundup is a very good herbicide, it doesn't kill certain brush species such as poison ivy, blackberries vines or poison oak. I would suggest that you purchase a product that contains the active ingredient called; "TRICLOPYR", which is found sold as "Brush-Killer" or "Brush-B-Gone" at most of your local hardware stores.
Simply mix the product with water and spray the entire poison ivy plant. You should use a "Spreader-Sticker" when spraying this material since it will help get more of the mixture onto the poison ivy and also help break down the waxy layer found on most leaves. IF you're not successful in finding the spreader-sticker, simply put about a 1/2 tablespoon in AFTER you've mixed the "Triclopyr
and water, to avoid excessive bubbles.
"Triclopyr" acts in the same way as Roundup and will kill the roots first and eventually the foilage. You should start to see results within 7 to 10 days.
This will solve your problem......Good Luck!

Virtually any herbicide that kills broad leaf plants will work on poison ivy and poison oak. Remember that both are vines though so several treatments may be required to kill even all the roots. Round-Up is a systemic killer that travels throughout the plant so its a good choice but its only taken in through foilar contact. A foam applicator or adding a surfactant that will give the Roundup extra sticking power will increase the effectiveness of its killing power. Good Luck with your killing.

DO NOT BURN ANY PART OF A POISON IVY PLANT. The smoke from the burning can hurt people who are far away from your fire. For people who are VERY allergic, this could be life threatening!!
Spray your plants with Round Up. Round Up will be absorbed by the plant and will kill the roots. The plants will usually turn brown in a week or two. The oil from the plants (leaves and vines) is the irritant. Use gloves when you remove the dead plant. You may want to throw your gloves away when you finish!
I would spray any plants that you see anywhere in your yard (or your neighbors)!! Your dog or your cat can rub up against the plant and then rub against you -- or your children!! You can get a TERRIBLE case and could require hospitalization if you touch the plant and then touch ANY sensitive part of your body (eyes, mouth, nose, private parts)!!!!
The best time to spray the plants is RIGHT NOW in the spring time. The new shoots are red/green. They will absorb the Round Up quickly!!
Good Luck!

Don't Touch It With Your Bare Hands!! Don't Burn It The Smoke Carries The Irritant. Put A Weed Killer On It First.

There are "killers" available , but do not expect anything to grow there for quite a while.
Might be something new out there.
Have had some sucess w/ small patches by soaking the ground & then turning the soil w/ a garden fork & taking up big gobs of earth w/ the roots in it.
Small shoots would appear for a while, but pulling & mowing took care of them after a while.
Protect yourself
Nasty stuff.

I just pull it off the trees or whatever it is growing on and make sure to pull up as much of the root as I can. It then goes on the brushpile to be burned the next time it is safe to burn brush. I wear gloves to do this but have never been allergic to poison ivy.

NEVER BURN PIOSION IVY!!!
the smoke will irritate your lungs and then your in trouble! You will be hospitalized a long time.
Pour boiling water on the root to kill it. Wait till the plant dries up and turns brown. dont use chemicals. then dress yourself in long sleeves and rubber gloves and pull it out, place in plastic bags undress very carefully and throw out the clothes. then shower with GREEN SOAP and put on fresh clothes.

Kerosene works just as well as roundup, and is a heck of a lot cheaper.
