Hakeem Abdul Olajuwon
I cannot say Shaq because he cannot knock down free throws. If you ask the question who is the most dominant player in the NBA history, then it would be Shaq, however, he is not the best in my mind.

Bill Russell, without a doubt. Why? because he regularly beat the most imposing center in history (Wilt Chamberlain) in winning those titles in the sixties. Shaq never beat any dominating center. When he had the chance to play against a dominating center (Hakeem Olajuwon - a better center, in my mind), he lost.

I was born in 1982, and have watched basketball every since I was a young child....Ive watched alot of great centers..including Olajuwon, Robinson, Ewing, Moses and Kareem (Late in their careers) etc.... But The most dominant of all has to be Shaq...Ive never seen another player take over a game the way he could........

Look at the number of rings plus the dominance of a team over a period of time. Hands down, Bill Russell. He even coached the Celts to a title when he was playing, whichis a remarkabke feat in itself.

i'll supply you a top 5, yet in not any order.....Mikan (he placed the extra youthful league on the map), Russell (jewelry, jewelry and rebounds), Wilt (arguably the main suitable athlete to play the sport), Kareem (redefined the hook shot), Shaq (this guy would desire to run the floor and clog the middle in the early years).
