Ok my friend just had unprotected sex 3 weeks ago. She took a pregnancy test like a week later and it was negative (I know that's too early to take a test but she's not too smart). Her period was late but she just got it. Is there any possiblility she could be pregnant or is she safe because she finally got her period?

yes some women still have their periods, but it usually only last for the first trimester. usually it is what is left of the blood in the uterus that is being removed.

and no she is likely not pregnant, tell her to go and get tested for AIDS and all STD now since she did not use protection. a baby should be the least of her problems from this point on. unprotected sex is becoming the number one killer of people between the age of 16 and 25.

You are actually incorrect regarding when you can get pregnant. You CAN ONLY GET PREGNANT when you are about to/are/just after you ovulate. There is a maximum of 5 days per cycle you can actually conceive which is from day 11/12 - 15/16 of your cycle. That said, as not everyone has regular cycle therefore if you are trying to avoid getting pregnant, then as a back up you should not have unprotected sex at anytime, although during your period is probably the best time.

She is probably safe, but you never know. It's rare, but some people do get their period while they are pregnant! I did! I ignored all my symptoms because I got my period, so I didn't test. I even started to get "fat" and my stomach hurt all the time and I had to pee all the time, but I ignored all those symptoms. I finally found out because the doctor did an MRI on my back, and they saw the little fetus in there! Shock of my life!!!!

I ended up having a baby girl.

Only one way to know for sure - she needs to take another test. Most, but not all, women stop their periods when they are pregnant. However, my mother-in-law had her period all thru her pregnancy with her son (my husband). She didn't even know she was pregnant until she was 5 months along! Her situation wasn't common, but proves it certainly is *possible* to get your period and still be pregant. Have your friend take another test to be sure. And have her buy a box of condoms while she's at it.

My sister had her period when she was pregnant for my nephew. So she may want to go to the doctors to make sure.
