-Conserve energy, especially petroleum
*
-Reduce the importance of the Middle East, and save lives now lost to various conflicts in this region.
*
-Reduce the political influence of big oil, with the attendant economic and competitive harm it does to our nation.
*
-Reduce gasoline prices (oil companies will cut gas prices to keep existing customers from buying EVs.)
*
-Honor and reward American ingenuity - example, this electric car:

and this one:
http://teslamotors.com
*
-Reduce air pollution (yes, even if power plants burn dirty fuel. See the next link below.)
*
-Save money on fuel (see this page:
http://www.squidoo.com/cheap-electric-car/)
*
-Reduce noise pollution. EVs are absolutely quiet.
*
-Help control global warming by reducing automobile-related CO2 emissions.
*
-Reduce obsolescence and waste - electric cars last longer - electric motors have only one moving part, and can go decades with no maintenance. Batteries, when they wear out, are fully recyclable.
*
-Encourage adoption of solar power. After buying an EV, owners will be tempted to put up solar panels to drive for free.
*
Reduce deaths from Cancer. Here's what the EPA says about gasoline fumes:
"Emissions from cars contain many different noxious gases, including several known human carcinogens. In fact, the EPA estimates that automobile fumes account for over 50% of all cancers attributed to outdoor causes."
*
Enough reasons?

More than 60% of the world's petroleum (and therefore: gasoline and diesel) comes from 5 middle-eastern countries.
After the 11th September 2001 (a.k.a.: 9/11), do you really want to drive a gas-guzzling land yacht or an electric car (or at least an econo-box)?
I'd personally like to have a small VW diesel vehicle and a fully electric motorcycle. I'd use the motorcycle around town (going to school, for example), and I'd run the diesel on used cooking oil from the back door of my fave fast food joint for longer trips or trips where carrying more passengers/luggage is necessary. Most street-legal electric motorcycles I've seen have a range of about 28 miles. So, anything up to about 14 miles one-way is fair game.

not one of the above. It died because it became impractical then. that's being resurrected now because they're better effective. How sensible? not one of the vast vehicle organizations promote them. the vast distinction is in the batteries, they save plenty, a outstanding purchase, better electrical energy now. next, new supplies make the vehicle plenty lighter. The Prius Hybrid has been changed to run only with hi-tech rechargeable batteries, in spite of the indisputable fact that that's too expensive. The Tesla organization (San Carlos, CA?) has 500 deposits for an events electric powered vehicle. it may be in the info by using Christmas. It is going from 0 to 60 mph in below 9 seconds (6?). With oil expenses going up and photo voltaic panel skill cells increasing in performance by using 50 p.c., you need to by using next twelve months be in a position to recharge your electric powered vehicle for loose. sure, i comprehend, at the same time as the solar is extreme your vehicle isn't homestead. yet, in California, the electrical energy is bought to PG&E skill application and at nighttime they promote electrical energy at a decrease fee. you need to only make funds and recharge your vehicle! And, no gasoline! And, a lot less international Warming. no longer undesirable, proper?

to save gas save money and to stop killing people in the middle east for it but we dont really "need" electric cars people who live in the metropolis areas could easily car pool or take mass transit but they dont because its not convienent to so and really on somebody elses schedule during world war two every body car pooled to save gas for the war effort you just dont see that kind of patriotism nowadays we dont "need" electric cars but they would held eliminate or cut back on pollution, gas consumption, and delay global warming
