So I just got an suv. It's pre-owned, but in very good condition. Anyways I'm a horse-back rider so when I put my stuff in the back (sadlle, etc.) it will make the whole car smell after a while. There's no way to get rid of the smell of my saddle, so how can I keep my car smelling fresh for a long time?

Do you have a big plastic bin that you can set inside of, this wil contain the smell. Do you not have a locker at the stable or barn where you go to ride? You can make one out of plywood and nails if they will let yo keep it there. Most places do have a spot for lockers and such. But ya if you put it in a plastic container it would help to contain the smell. Use a spry air freshener like febreeze on the fabrics where you lay your saddle and other things and a hanging air freshener. Good luck!

I've given up on irritating scents that don't work. I found the perfect product for this and know dozens of other people that use it. It is a natural fragrance free carbon product called FRIDGE IT carbon odor absorbers. Little purple cube with an incredible activated carbon filter inside that is really, really, great and eliminates the odors and for a long time. It works so much better than baking soda all those sprays and fragrances that just cover up smells and don't get rid of them. Also, alot of sprays have warning statements about being eye irritant and gels and oils that say keep away from fabric, pets, etc. Just put a couple in your car and trunk. Each only costs a couple of dollars. I use this product everywhere including car(smoke and pet smells), storage, closets, my fridge and also under sinks, near trash and have friends that use it on cat litter box and also diaper pails - it's that good. I really recommend it. You can buy it in kitchen gadget sections in stores like walmart and linens and things. I also think camping world sells it and internet. Definitely worth trying

The giant tote is an excellent suggestion, remembering to keep the lid shut and the dry sheet fresh. Also wash down the interior of the car regularly. The plastics and carpeting hold the odor........if you can spring for a professional detailing, that should do it. Otherwise keep the car clean inside.

Leave a cup of coffee beans in your car for a few day's it removes most smells from the car. Usually I buy a cheap store brand. This hint was given to me by a used car dealer they did this to remove smells from cars they were going to sell.

my mom bought a huge rubbermaid tote that she keeps in the back of her durango for all that junk. she also puts fabric softener sheets into the bin as well as in the little crevices between the seats, it keeps it smelling fresh she tells me.
