Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Paul Mooney . . . these men have told some great white people jokes ( I ain't gonna lie) But white people are just smiling and laughing along. Even Ralphie May has made some stingers about his own people. But y'all just laugh. Is it because it's true, it stings, or that you are in a room with a lot of black people?

Chris Rock is not a racist if anyone of you have ever watched some of his shows he makes fun of everybody almost to the point where some black people feel he is selling out(that joke about their being N***** and then there is black people still gets me rolling). White people sometimes seem to forget that the civil rights movement was fought just over forty years ago that means most of African American grand-parents remember times when they and their children were lynched beaten, and abused to unthinkable rights. That means the 90s generation parents can still remember being discriminated against when they were young and probably up until the LATE 90s What you are asking is for black people to erase 400 years of history in forty years (a very rocky40 years), history of which most being baby boomers still old enough to remember being abused. I mean would it not be "wired" for forty years from now to have some of the same insurgents who fought against our armed forces to say hey lets forget about 9/11 and lets be friends by the way want to hear a joke the only good marine is a dead one.although not trying to compare war to slavery they are both horrible in there own right but my point is made.

A lot of people have stated above that it is ok for "black" people to make fun of "white" people and use the following reasoning, "black" people have been enslaved and demeaned by "white" people. However I feel it is important that "black" people also should not be allowed by society to poke fun at "black" people since they have enslaved "black" people it is a fact that "white" people have been enslaved by all races as well. Slavery is terrible. I do think a lot of the "racism" in America is by design true racism does exsist no doubt. Although I do feel that certain groups take instances and run with them to promote thier perceived need. I.E Sharpton, Jackson. There is a lot of money and power to be had race pimping. I have never heard a solution or a goal they seem only to react to certain indiscretions. For example Hillary Clinton as recent as a month ago spoke down south an was trying to fit in and used a very sterotypical "black" voice during her speach it was very demeaning and by my standards has been the most racist thing I have heard in a while. I believe racism is very real and damaging however we all do have our own voice take the IMUS situation if you feel what he said was wrong or out of line practice your free speach and do not listen to him. I guess the best thing to do is create a list of what can't be said and by who. I do feel that this would take care of drawing a line but, people would never go for it because only certain "whites" and "blacks" are excempt from the rules.

I.E if Colin Powell were to make a "black" racial statement he probably would be in the headlines much like Bill Cosby was recently.

But Hilary Clinton can use a terrible "black" voice and nothing is made of it.

Before you jump to conclusions I am not a Rebuplican or Democrat. These are just my observations.

Also I do not have an issue with black comedians poking fun at me because I can turn it off or leave the room. It is just thier opinion or observation.

I can laugh at myself...it's too funny to see how people look(like when Chappelle imitates a white guy, hysterical!)

I can look in the mirror and have a good laugh. For some, and I do mean 'some' of all creeds, they just can't take a joke, unless the laugh or hurt is on someone else.

Funny is funny! If you cant laugh at yourself then I don't know what to tell you. White folks can be the butt of jokes just like anyone else.....most of us don't care. Humor is a great tool that can bring everyone together.
It just seems blacks are so conditioned to get mad whenever whitey says something that could even remotely be construed as racist.
I think the biggest race card players on the planet is Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton....if you guys got rid of those knuckleheads maybe things would lighten up. They just seem to keep racism going at any opportunity.

I don't laugh at Chris Rock, I don't watch him. I can't stand him and I think he is a racist (and his voice annoys me). Dave Chappelle is funny though, and I don't believe he is a racist because he cracks on black people just as much. That is what makes it different IMO. A comedian who jokes about different races or a comedian who seems a little too focused on one race.

There's also a huge double standard that has always bothered me. You will never see a white comedian joke about black people like that because there would be a huge fuss and that comedian would be labeled racist. Unfair, but that's what this country has come to. Double standards.

It is a double standard and it should not be done. Some white people get upset over this simply because black people see nothing wrong with making fun of them. Yet, if white comedian uses a derogatory word against blacks, all in the name of "humor" as the black comedians always do, he gets slammed as a racist bigot. This does not make any sense at all.

All racial epithets are wrong whether they are against whites, blacks or whomever. PERIOD!

Actually you expect them to say something in a joking manner, where someone like Don Imus is not by nature a comedian, and his comments can be taken either way. Especially if you cannot see his facial expressions when the comments/jokes are made.

I think the ability to laugh at oneself is really a noble thing. Not taking yourself so seriously that you can see what might be humorous about yourself to others.
I'm not racist, (have lots of African-American friends) but one of the things I have noticed about this race in general is that they have thin skin regarding these things. I'm not saying its alright to say inappropriate things, but good grief, alot of black people do have nappy hair and all the rappers call women ho's. I don't get it.

Because I can laugh at myself and recognize the truth in what is said. More people of all races should develop healthy senses of humor. Life is a lot easier then.
