Why is the standard answer for our being in Iraq to prevent the terrorists from coming here.To me what you are saying is you don't trust our miltary capabilities to prevent attacks on the homefront.Key word here people PREVENT.Is this showing confidence in our military?If anyone can enlighten me on why this is showing support of our troops please do.

the fact is our borders are still wide open.. you are correct.. we should be focusing on our homeland security.. and actually make it so they can never set foot on American soil... do that and you don't have to pay trillions of dollars and get our boys killed to "distract" them over there.

It is not our military's job to prevent domestic attacks but our law enforcement.
We need to change our thought process. We as a nation consider attacks a form of humiliation..weakness. Instead we should follow the foot steps of the Amish community that lost the six little girls in the school house attack. They accepted their hurtful losses then forgave their attacker. What would Bin Laden done if the US would have acknoweldged his roll in 9/11 then publicly "forgave" him of the brutal SINFUL act? How much power would he have? The global law enforcement community could have banned together and tracked him down just as Chad did after the bombing of the USS Cole.
We must also remember that Iraq was never part of the war on terror.

It is impossible to have a 100% fool proof defense. If you give someone enough time and space they will always be able to find a way through. Even if it is only by trial and error and we stop 99.99% of attempted attacks using a defensive stance that is still not good enough. After all any defensive strategy will rely on Human Strength and ability to defend us and nobody is perfect.

Iraq had no designs on attacking the US. Bush brought the terrorists to Iraq as they were not allowed there prior to the US takeover.
The empty slogan of the neo-con is "fight them over there so we don't have to fight them over here". They were not in Iraq until Bush kicked out the welcome mat for them. When Bush leaves Iraq, the Iraqis will kick the outsiders out of their own country as they had been doing before.

The purpose of the military is to kill people and break things. We have never been intended to be peace keepers, or border patrol.
All of you bleeding hearts that have no backbone and are not willing to die for your country need to just deal with the fact that your very way of life is being defended.
If you want to be able to move freely throughout the USA and about the world then you need to just accept the fact that we will have to continue this war, and it must be waged on foreign soil

The Chinese are the sleeping dragon and are moving closer as we are weakened by small middle-eastern countries. We are going broke fighting a small country like Iraq. What would we do against China or North Korea? What are we going to do when all of the world turns against us?
