I was laid off from my job last month so i no longer have insurance. About a week ago I noticed my left ear started feeling like there was water or something in there cause it was stufted up. I didnt think anything of it and just let it be. Then last thursday i woke up with such a bad painfull pain, all weekend i had to suffer thru it, i was taking lots of pain pills. I have a doctors appointment today at a clinic but i have to pay $70.00 that i really dont have to spare. do i really need to go to the doctor or will it just go away on its own. The pain is pretty much gone but its still cloged up, sometimes i can hear it make kind of like poping sounds.

You need to get it checked out as you could lose your hearing if you don't get it treated.

You do not need a Dr or antibiotics to clear this up there are other alternatives.
I am currently on my last day I think of the worst ear infection I have ever had. I still at 28 get 2-3 a year and don't want to take antibiotics every time I get one. So this is what I use and on myself and my children. Hyland's Homeopathic earache tablets. It usually takes about 2-3 days before you feel 100% better but this is the best out there. This was on the back of my box. It costs about 11.00 for one box

i had an ear infection, like, a week ago and this is what i did (and it really did help). first, you put a heating pad on your ear. either lie down on it or just hold it on your ear (i suggest lying down on the pad). after a while you put hydrogen peroxide in your ear and leave it in there for at LEAST 5 minutes. that's when the bubbling should stop, and it really doesn't matter if it's in there longer. then you sit up and let all the h. per. come out (onto a kleenex or sumthin) and heat your ear some more. do this for a while and the pain'll go away. oh! i hear drinking either tea or hot chocolate helps too. hope this helps!! good luck.

I get ear infections for about 3 days and they seem to clear up. Then a few months later they will ache for about 3 more days and then go away. I probably need to go to the doctor too, but I procrastinate till the pain goes away and after it is gone I feel like it is a waste of time and money.

Any time you have an infection you need antibiotics to get rid of it. It will not go away on its own. Also if you do not do any thing about it...you could damage or even lose your hearing in that ear. Which would you rather choose....be 70.00 richer or be deaf in one ear? Good Luck!!!

it can but its best to get on antibiotics if its actually infected. but you can run saline up into your sinus and at least try and get some drainage going. you take a coffee cup and fill with warm water. add 1/8 teaspoon NON iodized salt. and then get a nasal bulb, not the long skinny one the short fat one. and squirt the saline up your nose until it either runs out the other nostril or down your throat. it is kinda gross but it moistines the membranes in the nose clears congestion and will help aleviate ear problems that deal with blockage or inflammation

If you let it go it will only get worse. I've never had an ear infection that went away on its own. Hopefully the antibiotics they give you wont be too expensive.

You need antibiotics to counter the infections.
But you can also take some aspirin to relieve the pain.

Prolonged infection and pain can have adverse effect on your hearing. Consult your Doctor immediately.

I know this sounds crazy, but my doctor told me to try afrin to get rid of my residual ear infection. Try that and be sure to keep trying to pop your ears. That will help get the afrin in and the infection out. Don't use it more than 3 days.
