no, the only ones that do are live bearers. The other fish lay eggs. The gravid spot is the baby fishes eyes being seen through the mother fish. The only fish that I have actually been able to notice the spot is my guppies. My platys and mollies just get real round.

Gravid spots do not point out that the female is pregnant. some livebearers continually has a gloomy spot. Is she nevertheless fat and extensive? How new is she on your tank? i bought some platies and after a pair of days there have been approximately 10 fry. the female did not even look pregnant. Then she had a brood approximately 2 weeks later. i think of collectively as they are in breeder preserving tanks, being transported to the shops after which in the show tanks fairly messes up their cycle. She replaced into commencing as much as get pregnant earlier being placed in preserving and transport so she stopped producing eggs. The fry she had developed after which she birthed them. meanwhile she produced extra eggs and commenced to enhance mid cycle. See the place i'm attempting to bypass with this?????? So, bypass via length not only because of the fact her gravid is dark. reliable luck...

Not all fish show a gravid spot, only livebearers. In some livebearers it's practically impossible to see the gravid spot due to dark coloration in the area, such as with black mollies.

Some livebearer species such as Illyodon furcidens are not ovo-viviparus like guppies and platys and don't have gravid spots.
