It was up to me, and I chose to be an American.
Ok, now I get the jist of your queston, but I have to ask, what difference does it make what nationality you'd want to be born with? Heck, If you don't like your nationality of birth then change it like I did. To answer your question though, I would have preferred to have been born an American. Naturalization is a difficult process and had I been born here, I wouldn't have had to go through it.
