My computer wouldn't connect to the internet, i restarted it and when it turned back on all the programs were uninstalled.

it sounds like there may be a virus on it.
If you can, go on the internet and download the AVG anti-virus free addition, and run it, mae sure the system is clean, if it is, then try reinstalling the pprograms, if this does not work, try reformatting the drive and start from scratch

If Windows XP is still there try using the System Restore function to get it all back. Just select a day before things went bad.
Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > Systems Tools > System Restore
Select "Restore My Computer to an Earlier Date"
Choose a date before your problem occurred and then click Apply/Ok whichever it asks for.
It will shut down and restart your pc and will restore it to the date you selected.
