For some realistic aspects of being a superhero and trying to maintain a secret identity, check out the old Marvel ‘New Universe’ title, ‘Star Brand’ after he decided to go public. He went to a comic book convention, and people were able to find clues to his identity almost immediately.

Super heroism is all work and no pay. Use your super powers and become a bounty hunter, go catch Osama Bin Laden and a few other terrorists and collect the multi-million dollar bounties on their heads.
