I'm asking nice!

I'm not looking for an argument I just want to know in your own words what is the main things that:
1-skeptics dont understand about the religous, and
2- what the religous dont understand about the skeptics
THAT usually gets the argument going.

My input on #2: I would say that the evidence towards Darwinism is strong and that IS NOT an insult to the religous in itself.

1 - We're not sheep. We believe what we believe because it's true and we've chosen to follow it. Give it a try. It's not easy, but you just might learn something about yourself and about life. Yes, there are bad apples. None of us are perfect, in spite of perceptions otherwise.

2 - Tough to answer. Having been a former skeptic, there is a ton of media available to attempt to refute what's in the Bible. My understanding of skeptics is they don't want to dig deeper to gain a better understanding, in general.

For the record, even Darwin went to church, though his faith waned over the years of his life.

main misunderstanding? that we are HUMAN BEINGS having a conversation about beliefs that cannot be proven no matter what... so it comes down to accepting it or not.. and that is not the type of thing that is changed with debate.... not when it's a question of faith or lack there of.

1) skeptics lack that faith and those that are religious often feel it so strongly that they don't see how anyone cannot feel it as well.. skeptics take their wanting to help as an insult to their intelligence almost.. as if they are trying to educate them instead of what they intend.. which is to help (from their point of view)

2) the religious don't understand that the skeptics have thought about it and the constant pushing is as much a part of the problem as anything else... if they are to find faith it won't be threw debate.. many have spent years being persecuted... they have given it thought.. they have educated themselves and just don't have that faith... pushing that will not help the matter.

The only time talking about religion will change someones mind is if they want to listen... and if that is the case they will seek you out.. you don't have to "force" it on them.

this could be debated till the tip of time. And the certainty which you pinpointed those words as adversarial to non violent ones shows the propaganda at present. After 9/eleven, Islam has been studied and eace word has been placed out interior the open for the accepted public to remark on. i do no longer recommend what got here approximately on that day, yet human beings are growing to be to be an exceedingly warped concept of Muslims. and that i assume, i won't do something approximately that. i understand what it looks like. I placed on the Muslim head headscarf and human beings do seem at me slightly in yet otherwise. Islam is unquestionably a faith of peace, basically as different religions are. i think of you will discover comparable "violent" words in scriptures of different religions. The media is extremely one sided in this challenge. even if, i think of you need to not be aksing this question on some thing so open like yahoo! solutions. in case you like a the perfect option answer with examples I propose you pass to a Muslim Mosque and talk with somebody there. that's a worry-unfastened question between non-Muslims and in step with danger in case you seek for the advice of a Muslim professional, you will get the the perfect option information, and you will pass this directly to others who don't understand Islam.

1) Skeptics believe in facts over faith
2) Religious people put faith over facts

I'm not saying that as a slam to religious people - but by definition religious people cannot prove there is a god - you just have to have faith. Conversely, most skeptics are of an agnostic mind set which is to say they can neither prove nor disprove the existence of god...they acknowlege the facts only. (by the way I belong to the skeptic crowd, I'm a former "recovering" catholic)

Well often you may see someone asking a question or givig an answer with a religious reference. Then you will see an atheist pop in and say who gives a ^*&^&* because it doesnt exist.

Im not a particularly religious person as far as organizationally but I still dont care for that.

I am not a church goer. But the fact is the majority are religious and do.

Its one thing as an atheist to be free of someone forcing their religion on them, its quite another to force their minority view upon everyone else. And thats what I see more often than the other way around.

The religious believe they are always right despite evidence.

The skeptics believe the evidence and accept it may still be wrong.

Skeptics, atheists and agnostics make the mistake of assuming that because someone believes they must be stupid or weak-minded.

Religious people make the mistake of assuming that unbelief is the same as evil.

I for one believe in one GOD and that is how I feel, but I never fight with some one who believes in some thing else, that is what makes the world go round.
