Both...if you are committed to the right person, independence should be factored in for both of you. If it is an activity or hobby, it gets tougher when other people depend on you. I sometimes hated marching band because I was committed to doing things at certain times....all the time, and my independent life went away for certain parts of the year.

Independence because you never know when the person you are committed to will turn on you.

Independence all the time. You can be committed to someone and still keep you independence though surely.
NEVER depend on anyone but yourself. Your asking for trouble otherwise

Well commitment is nice if you have the option of being independence like if your boyfriend lets you be free...then you don't really want to be free because you feel guilty isn't that odd?

I think you are in a great relationship when you can maintain your independence and still be committed. No crap about where r you going and when you gonna be back. Whining is not allowed. Each maintains their own sets of friends and interests. And no one gets hurt by it!
