There are somewhere around 190 soveriegn states as defined by the UN. As for nations, I'm assuming you mean tribes, ethnic groups, etc... There are thousands of these. I don't think you'll find any specific number. My guess would be anywhere from 2,000 to 10,000. There are many groups in Asian and African countries that identify tribally or locally somehow. In Indonesia they have something like 200 distinct groups.

You are going to have define the difference as I consider them the same. Start with the count of nations in the United Nations, 192, and go up from there. http://www.un.org/members/list.shtml

I'm counting that there's about zillion of nations in world. Exp: we all mix and from two different nation- there comes the third etc... So imagine.. Zilllllionssss...

Can anyone tell this? Because sometimes everyone is an individual and recognise himself/herself as nation.
