Two years ago one of my apple trees ( I have two ) was damaged during buildind work. Branches were torn off.
I tried my best to cut and repair. However the branch stubs now look rotten and are seeping. How can i fix this problem or am i losing my Apple Tree. Please help.

Remove any dead dying or damaged branches to the branch bark coller at a 90 degree angle, try not to cut past the cambium layer too much..

I thought apple trees were hardy. Our hedge apple tree didn't need any looking after. The one solitary tree in the backyard with sour green cooking-apples bore fruit despite total neglect.

Some people put tar on the cuts and this somehow protects the rest of the tree from suffering rot from entering at the wounds. Maybe you should get some tar ready (wherefrom?) and then cut the branches below the rotten parts, then quickly apply tar to the cuts to block loss of moisture and sap, and to block germs and mould from entering.

Having said that, I wonder if using strong gum or blutack at the cut would do the same job.

If the stub is long make an undercut about 8 in. from the trunk. Cut off the stub between the trunk and the undercut. The undercut will prevent splintering and further damage. Finish by cutting the stub off flush with the trunk and treat it with pruning spray to seal the area and discourage insects.

The seeping is probably sap. You should have sealed the cut limbs with something to keep bugs from attacking the tree there. If it is getting leaves, it may still be okay. Hopefully you are getting some new growth.
