OK I'm going to keep this simple.

Man Burns fossil fuel, the byproduct of the burning fuel goes into the air. Mankind also deforests 1000s of acres a day (remember trees make oxygen and clean the bad stuff out of the air) and we dump toxic sludge among other things into the ocean.

HOW CAN ANY OF THIS NOT HAVE A NEGATIVE EFFECT.

And please not a single word about natural weather cycles because none of the above mentioned in natural.

archangel72901: THUS the part about toxic sludge and if the temps in the ocean rise or fall the plants that make the oxygen DIE, then WE DIE.

HOW ARROGANT some of you are to think you have "minimal effect" on the planet. Please read some research or heck just learn to read.

and THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL PARTY ISSUE not Democrat or Republican.

because the gases damage the ozone layer and the ozone layer doesnt patch up its holes again(once its gone, its gone)which means the sun's harmful rays will melt the polar icecaps and we have a lot of those because we are in a mid ice age, and then when they melt, they will travel down and flood everyone, or it will melt and freeze back up, which means it will be another ice age.
and about the stuff in the ocean, we get a lot of our oxygen from the ocean, and if we damage the ocean, we are hurting ourselves as well as the creatures we depend on in the ocean including fish, crawfish, squid, lobster, crabs, etc. and we are putting the endangered species to extinction like whales.
and yes trees make oxygen, but doesnt mean they clean all the air for us, they aren't air filters. they take in that horrible air and they are risking it for themselves, which means they cant breath that air, so they die.
** oh and i hate it when pple argue about stuff like this, pple be more mature and respect each others opions and have a mature discussion, not a debate calling each other stupid!!

Global warming itself probably isn't a hoax, although it has many of the characterizing aspects of one. The hoax comes in when people start blaming humans for doing it. Have you noticed that the only solution ever presented by the "bad human" crowd is to enact more government control over the people? I doubt the attempt at totalitarianism is conscious except at the very highest levels; that doesn't make the controversy any less of a hoax.

By the way... I've heard of the other activities causing warming, but the toxic sludge is a new one. How does that warm up the planet? Do tell.

Man-made Global Warming is a hoax.

But don't tell me anything about man-made gases because I didn't mention it in the above statement.

You are such a hoax. The climate on Mars is getting hotter but there are no factories or SUV there but that would confuse you because it goes against you preconceived ideas and you are not willing to listen.

America probably recycles more than any other country on the Earth but that info would also go against your preconceived ideas that America is the main cause cause for Global Warming.

And that China and Russia and France only do good and contribute nothing to the pollution But once again that might go against your preconceived ideas.

Next time you ask a question don't set it up for the answer you want by adding perimeters to narrow the discussion.

The atmosphere is like a big lake. Man-made CO2 emmissions are like a small stream trickling into the lake. Natural emmissions are like a big river. But there is also an equally large river flowing out of the lake (to eventually cycle back into the inflow) so the water level stays constant.

In any given year, the effect of the man-made stream is negligible compared to the natural river. But over decades and centuries, the stream constantly adds water to the entire system and eventually the level of the lake starts to rise.

This is was has been happening with CO2 levels in the atmosphere. They have risen by 20% over the last 100 years and it is a FACT that this rise is man made. What is less clear, however, is how much higher CO2 concentrations contribute to global warming.

The earth may be rising in temperature, but to think that people can have a dramatic impact is absurd. In the 1970s, scientists all believed the earth was cooling (as it had been since the 1940s), and that we were headed for an ice age. They blamed it on us driving cars then too - the smog particles were supposedly blocking some of the sunlight from getting to the earth and were reflecting it back out into space before it was able to heat the earth. The fact is that the idea that we are affecting the earth's climate is a hoax.

I do not consider myself qualified to deem it global warming fact or fiction. I do agree that sludge dumped in waterways, toxic waste left in a hole and other obvious means of disposal in not environmentally friendly.

Where I become skeptical is when politicians begin to write books, make movies and fill the news with crap as a means to further their agenda. They don't give a crap about the environment they just want to buys someones vote by hoping they are simple minded enough to believe the waste they are spewing. If they gave a crap the would sell a few of their homes, jets, private bus, etc, etc - left and right wing.

If this is not a political part issue why has one camp jumped on the bandwagon and started printing books, making movies and preaching the gossip of global warming? I honestly believe it is simply a means to buy votes from tree huggers.

In a heavily hyped debate – one that environmentalist Democrats hoped would be a “smack down” on Republicans -- former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich disappointed them and conservatives alike when he declared that human activity was causing the Earth to warm.

The concession was made in a debate on global warming with Sen. John Kerry (D.-Mass.) today on Capitol Hill that was sponsored by the Brookings Institution and the RAND Corporation.

In his first portion of allotted time Gingrich said there were two undisputed areas of scientific consensus on global warming: that the earth is getting hotter and the warming had been caused by human activity.

Hoax or not, the blame game and finger pointing needs to stop. We all need to come together and clean up our mess whether it contributes to global warming or not. Look, we all know that the abuse of the earth has been caused by humans. It's our obligation to find more environmentally safe/acceptable means of fueling our disposable lifestyles. Environmental correctness should be a concern of all of ours. And by the way, global warming concerns are not held by Liberal Democrats, exclusively.

No.

I think it is an unproven theory, just like the whole global freezing theory was unproven in the early 1980's even though all the science world was abuzz with "global freezing" Chicken Little's . . .

Keep in mind that over 90% of the oxygen produced by plant life comes from single-celled plant life living in the oceans of this world. The impact of deforestation on oxygen production is minimal at best. Deforestation en mass does however; have a huge impact on land surface temperatures.

Don't edit our answers before we answer, I hate that. Why have temps on Mars been escalating, there is nothing on that planet triggering atmospheric change? It's because our Sun has been observed as going through a warming cycle. Stop drinking the kool aid, the Earth has survived millions of years why are you so arrogant to think we can affect cataclysmic results? You just don't think critically or practically.
