Reality is reality, an abolute by itself. Reality needs no defense simply because it's how things are. Reality is fact and the facts are that we, the American people as a majority, do NOT feel this war is justifiable given the reasons (lies) for engagement. A fact is that there is are Americans down in LA that are misplaced and have little to no means of support to sustain their lives. A fact is that Osama bin Laden is richer than all the Bushies and Clintons put together and he has influence in higher places and access to greater resources than our own government. Another fact is that there is no such thing as security in the world anywhere, you could go anytime so what is terror? Terror is when you feed into fear of death which is inevitable for everyone. My question is that why do so many of our fellow Americans conciously choose to create in their minds their own version of reality when reality is independent of our perception?

It is interesting that you categorize how people "feel" as *REALITY*.
How someone feels at the moment might be a fact...but how they feel can change.
Thus...the reality can change.
It is not a reality that bin Laden "is richer than all the Bushies and Clintons put together and he has influence in higher places and access to greater resources than our own government." This is a bizarre claim, either a distortion on your part, a mentally retarded misbelief, or an outright lie...you tell us which.
Reality may be the truth at the moment...but none of us have the total capacity to understand every bit of that reality. Perceptions sometimes lead to gross distortions...like your bin laden comment above.

That is an easy question, in the mind of the one holding the perception, it is his reality. The perception of what is, can only be identified by the action not the communicated facts. Communicated facts are the dilusion of the carrier of the information. Thusly, aside from the people involved in the action and are involved have the reality, everything outside of that is a perception of the facts and that is a perceived reality, much like our courts. If a person believes, perception to him is reality. Who are you to tell a person that his perception is wrong. If his belief is what he bases his life and actions is and they are within the societal norms, who are you to judge his beliefs. People form perceptions based on the amount of information given and then apply the societal norms to gain a belief. The better the information the closer the perception to the true event and the more accurate the belief to being just and true. Distorting reality has become so commonplace that the truth is a commodity and if you are not getting the facts from the person involved in the actions beginning then you are not in reality but the beginning of a perception. You sound like a smart person, do you think the dissemination of true information would yeild the current "reality" in the United States today. No, I do not think so either. We all have perceptions about our world and senses of right and wrong, but when you go all the way back to the laws given by our forfathers and apply the reality, you can go forward to today and see the mass transition of information that leads to lies, deceit and the forming of perception that things are ok, when in reality, as you call it, there is a plan that even you will not believe. Reality is not reality, reality is what you believe.

I don't believe reality is independent of perception and I think that's the answer. If no one is there to perceive reality, does reality still exist? If all people believe a lie does that lie become reality? This is almost a philosophical question and who of us can honestly say they can look at an issue without any bias?
Reality doesn't exist,it's an illusion.

Reality is not independent OF perception.
Reality IS perception.
Without perception, nothing can be perceived. Nothing IS>
...or what is the point of having a reality that can never be perceived?

It is easy and comforting to accept the lie.
-go with the party-
Is fear the driving force? Americans have better odds of dying from ingesting peanuts than from terrorism.
Or, is the driving force a compulsion to force our will and strut our power?

Can you say "I am American" with pride? Can you say "I feel safe in America." Well, you owe it all to our current president. George W. Bush is #1 and that's reality.
LA has its own share of problems and let's just try and overlook California because they're not real Americans like us.
There's still hope for republicans... good luck.

Most people's reality is only their own financial gain. "To get rich!" It's the carrot on a stick.
