Yes it is fair, because the commisioner is right. It is a privilege to play in the NFL not a right. Just like having the right to own a drivers license. He needs to quit his childish ways while he is still ahead. It's about time that one professional organization is cracking down on this becuase the MLB is certainly not. This should be a wake up call to all other athletes not just football players. I think everytime Pac Man Jones was sitting in a jail the consequences of him losing his job may have crossed his mind a little. The point is he was well aware of what he was doing and should know the difference between right and wrong.

When each player signs his contract there is a clause in it about ethics and expectations as to how to be as a player. This is a league wide expectation. This is a billion dollar business and the league will have to guard it if it is to continue growing at its current rate. The two suspensions handed down today by the new commissioner are just the beginning. The league is going to tighten up on its allowing the players to do what they want and not be accountable for their actions. If a regular lay person were to have gotten into the same kind of trouble on their every day life, all probabilities they would have already lost their job. It is fair, talent does not mean you get a free run to do what you desire in life without consequences happening.

I think it's perfectly fair, The guy has a golden opportunity to go out and do something most people can only dream about, which is being an NFL player. His skills where GOOD enough to get him into the league. Now he's going to go mess around and get into trouble with the law? Everytime he does that, he represents the Tennessee Titans as a player in the public, he also represents the NFL.

So he doesn't only bring bad publicity to himself, but to what he represents with his "professional." If you ask me, being a "professional" athlete is more than what you do on the feild, it's also about how you conduct yourself off the feild. Pac man's conduct has him on the wrong side of the law.

I don't think being a son of a single women has anything to do with this. If you ask me someone did something wrong when they were raising him for him to turn out as bad as he has.
I'm in Morgantown, WV home of WVU and I love that fact that they are finally doing something about him. He was in all kinds of trouble while he was here. He nearly killed some guy with a pool stick. He's the kind of person that will always be this way. He will never change. What a waste of a human being.

Yes it's fair. Anytime a guy has 10 run-ins with the law something should be done. He just got drafted in 2005!! Barely two years ago. He also refused to tell the Titans of charges he was up against in Georgia. Then comes the Las Vegas incident. They've tried fining him. It doesn't work. Fining doesn't work for most NFL players because those fines are a joke. That's pocket change to them. So, he was warned to straighten up. He didn't. Now he's paying for it. Sounds to me like his mom is the main source of the problem. If I had as many run-ins with the law as Pacman has, my parents would tell me, "It's your fault. You knew the people you were running with was no good, but yet you still chose to run with em'. So pay the consequences." I know my parents love me, just like his mom loves him. No parent likes to see their child in trouble, but whatever happened to people being responsible for themselves? His mom is trying to make it seem like the NFL is just picking on him. But she fails to realize is, It is a privilege to be in the NFL, not a right. Pacman better be glad he got suspended for just one year and not for life. Besides, he's not in jail. So he better be thankful for those two things and straighten up. Oh, and to the person who said this is "ludicrous and racist", SHUT THE F*CK UP!! THAT IS BULLSHI*!!! I AM A BLACK MAN AND I AGREE 100% WITH WHAT THE NFL DID!! If the NFL is so racist then how come the majority of the players in the NFL are black?! DUMMY!!! Pacman Jones is a man who had to be handed down harsh punishment because he can't seem to act right. He just happens to be black. There are many other black men in the NFL and in the "not so famous" world who are law-abiding citizens and don't get into trouble. I'm one of them and I know plenty of them. Even at a regular job, if you start having too many run-ins with the law, you are going to eventually be fired. So in a way, what you do outside of work, affects your employment status.

Pacman has been arrested 10 times in 12 months. Henry has been arrested 8 times in 16 months.

Yes it's fair! It matters not one iota that he's a product of a single parent home. If I were in his shoes and I acted a fool like that, I'd expect to have my butt suspended too! I do believe he deserves a second chance and hope that he realizes just how close he is to crapping his career down the toilet!

Considering all of trouble he has been in and around maybe it will wake him up. Glad to see Goodell and the league making a statement. Time for players like Pacman and Henry to shape up or get out.

Of course it is fair. The guy is a juvenille he needs time to get his head straight. I think its good for him and even better for football to finally take a stand against this stuff.

The suspension is more than fair. I wouldn't be surprised if his career is over.
