If you remember right, the lie was the very first of all sins. The Devil was the father of the lie. So if you think about it that way, lying is just as bad if not worse than cheating. One lie can hurt many people as we learned from the first sin.

The spouse that has been unfaithful has violated trust and physically violated an act that should be specific to two people only for sexual gratification. That person can argue a defense as to why she (and I say 'she' because it's obvious the male end is the liar) committed an act of adultery but the fact remains that you shared one of the most intimate acts of love and affection by giving yourself to another person.
Lying is just as serious an offense except that you haven't placed yourself in a position to put yourself into another's bed.
In a nutshell though both acts damage a relationship to a point where trust has gone out the window and any attempt to re-establish it will take a very long time.
Neither can sit down and claim their act is not as bad as the others. You are both equally culpable and both equally guilty.

both. Both are betrayals. Cheating is acting on something which would be worse. Are the lies just words or are the covering up an action? I think both are bad.

Lying and cheating are both just as bad to do to each other. Those are 2 things you cannot base a relationship on at all.

They are both BAAAD! Cheating is worse to lying to some people who don't place sexual fidelity above honesty. Lying is worse to people who value sexual fidelity above honesty.
Either way, the relationship is doomed and both people need to recognize that and move on.

Cheating is worse, but lying is just one step away as far as I'm concerned. You can never trust either one again.

Two wrongs do not make a right. One is not an excuse or justification for the other. Sounds like a toxic relationship, get out.

Cheating! Lies suck. And they are betrayals. But at least a lie isn't having sex with some one else.

If they will lie to you then they will cheat on you and if they will cheat on you then they will definitely lie to you, basically two of the same.

Both are wrong and unacceptable. If someone will lie to you they will cheat on you.
