I only need tips, tricks and ideas on what to do for my roadtrip. I am moving from Long Beach to Florida at the end of April and I want to know how your trips went and what advice you can give. God Bless you!

I havent done this particular destination, but we have done 7 long trips (between 15 to 20 hours each)

Tips:
1.Start very early in the morning like 4 am
2. Dont stop at least the 4 first hours unless its very urgent.
The more you stop the more you feel the trip is never-ending.
but of course you are the one who know when your eyes need rest.
My husband usually drive 8-9 hours (with only short stop like gas or restroom ) at the very first of the trip. but will take turn every 2 hours with me, to avoid any thing unexpected.

3. If you have somebody to take turn , start in the evening. Why in the evening, because we usually drove all night long, and if you start in the morning at 9am, you are too tired to drive all night .
Driving all night long give you more time, save some hotel money, and the traffic is less, believe me, you can avoid much much more traffic jam in the big city.

4. Bring lots of drinks and snack, it wont be too much, I always nible to keep me awake.

5. If time is not limited, you can stop in the city that you like and have some fun (but that doesnt really work for us, we choose to be there sooner)

6. Other than map that I believe you have prepared, I will memorised the big highway because we cant check the map every hour to make sure we are still in the rigth path.

I have not done this particular trip but have done a great deal of traveling over the road the last few years. For the last three years I was a member of a national touring college choir and have traveled well over 15,000 miles to more than forty locations by tour bus. My advice for any long road trip is as follows.

1. Buy a map, it is always useful to have in the event you get lost.
2. Take your time. You have the opportunity to see a lot of the country. If you have the time, take a week or a week and a half to make this journey. There is a lot of stuff to see along the way.
3. Bring a cooler. You can fill this with ice and pop/water/tea. This is much cheaper than buying a bottle of water or pop every time you stop. You can also pack lunch meat or hotdogs for a quick, cheap on the road meal.
4. Plan ahead. Have some sort of idea what you want to see and where you are going to stay. It is much easier if you already have reservations made along the way.
5. Enjoy the trip.
