I'm having a dilemma: I can't choose between med school or law school. I'm a sophmore in college, and I MUST have a major declared before I transfer to a four year institution. Thanks!

Short answer: unless you have a very strong stomach, go to law school. Medical school involves more work, and there is less control over your career once you are done with schooling. A lawyer basically gets to decide what sorts of cases he will take and accept or reject clients by his own choice. A medical doctor has to take whatever patients he gets, especially while he's working in a hospital. And a doctor deals with much more in the way of bureaucratic structure and regulations.

Law school is not as hard as many people believe. I went for a year and a month, until they pulled the financial aid out from under me. The tradition is the first year they scare you to death, the second year they work you to death, and the third year they bore you to death. Then comes the preparation for and taking of the bar exam. A piece of cake (OK, a very LARGE piece of cake) compared to medical school. You simply have to be prepared to do very little besides go to classes and study. Leave all thought of a social life way, way behind you.
