Courage is inside every one of us. Sometimes we have to be in a crisis before we realize how strong we are.

That is rather a sweeping question. But I think an important factor is have one's priorities in place. If you know what has priority for you, you are better prepared to make difficult decisions. If you have conflicting priorities, you will be indecisive.
