Most probably you have a clogged heater core, usually caused by a lack of proper maintainence over the life of the engine, as in having the coolant changed periodically. It's very common, but needs to get fixed quickly, lest you end up with ruined carpet, and a very smelly interior. You also will be having no heat coming out of the heater in a short time, if you haven't noticed this already.

Your heater core is leaking - this is not uncommon, and it's generally not hard to repair.
But it's up under the dash so it's hard to get to.
If you are a do-it-yourself, most auto parts stores carry replacement cores.

you have a ''blown'' heater core. you need to take it to your favorite machanic and do it NOW! you are losing engine coolant and this makes you engine run hotter, this could lead to devastating problems. plus breathing the vapors of engine coolant isn't good for the respitory system or brain cells.
