This is the site I always recommend and use myself frequently.

Just type in your zip code, or city and state in the upper left box and scroll down to History and Almanac and type in the month and any day or the day you are looking for. When this page comes up you can get daily weather or weekly, or monthly averages.

I understand exactly what you say, Tim! When I crossed the Bay of Biscay in a tiny sailboat in 1975, it was not without having first followed the BBC shipping forecast, day by day, for a week; noting the trend and motions of the low pressures. Alas, I am afraid that modern digital information takes a lot of place on the servers and that past data is deleted very, very fast! Perhaps someone else knows where archives are kept and will answer you, but I doubt. Good luck, anyway!

www.weather.com and search for weather in a zip code. Then, look at the month tab, it shows you the past weather for the current and past month, as well as the forecast for the next 10 days as well as the average temps for the upcoming month.

An excellent site for seeing what past weather conditions have been is Weather Underground http://www.wunderground.com/
Just type in a location (town, city, zipcode etc) and it gives you this and more information.
