I wonder how many of these people have been pregnant??
Drinking a glass of wine, a beer, or a wine cooler once in awhile is not a big deal. I did it and my baby is perfect! The one thing I discovered while I was pregnant is that everyone will tell you something different about everything!! You really need to do research on everything and make your own decisions because medical opinions change so quickly. My grandmother's doctor told her it was good to drink while nursing because it would relax the baby - you'll never hear that today!! 20 years ago they told parents to put their babies on their stomachs to sleep, now they say that will kill your baby! We're all alive though. Our parents used to put cereal in our bottles to help us sleep longer, now that is a big no-no because your baby will choke to death and turn out obese. Formula used to be the best thing to feed your baby, now it's breastmilk.
I would do some reasearch online and in books on questions you have about what is safe during pregnancy and once you have your baby, because every person you talk to will tell you something different. Even different doctors will tell you different things. Everyone thinks they are helping by giving you advice, but you will get conflicting information everywhere. Good luck with everything, you just need to use common sense and be reasonable!

Ya see how that one beer affects you so quickly? Imagine that on your baby. The alcohol is carried in your blood stream which in turn goes to your baby. Would you put beer in your baby's bottle? The affects are so strong and quick because you haven't had any alcohol in 5 months. Your tolerance level is down. You really are being selfish and putting your baby in unnecessary danger. Best of luck.

Edited to add: while your healthcare "professional" told you there was a safe limit, studies are inconclusive on that. Based on the best evidence to date, the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists recommends that the only way to be absolutely certain that your baby is not harmed by alcohol is not to drink at all during pregnancy or while you are trying for a baby.

Maybe your "professional" should read up on the recent studies and recommendations.

You shouldn't drink any alcohol while pregnant. Look at the side of the can, it says it may cause birth defects. If it were me, I don't care how much I was craving it, my baby would be more important to me than fulfilling one of my stupid cravings. Even though there is a "safe" limit, EVERYTHING you eat and drink goes to that baby. You are one in the same. Maybe you need a shitty answer, maybe that's what it will take to make you realize whats really important.

I'm sure you know you should refrain from drinking at all during pregnancy, although some doctors have said a glass of wine now and then is fine. I would never have more than one beer while being responsible for a child growing within my body. Imagine that poor little baby in there.

It's having a greater effect on you now because you haven't been drinking for five months--your tolerance is down. I'm 27 weeks pregnant, and I have a glass of wine occasionally--I notice the effects right away. I was a big drinker before I was pregnant, so my tolerance had been pretty high.

If you usually drink 6 cans of beer in one sitting you're probably an alchoholic. You seem to be getting a bit defensive and that says something.

I don' t know what "most" pregnant women do, but just because the one's you hang out with don't mind being piss tanks that doesn't make it ok.

ok yes there are certain limits to alcohol consumption in pregnancy. for one BEER is not one of those things that you should be drinking. Most doctors will say that a glass of red wine everyonce in awhile is ok as well as a half pint of Guiness because of all the protien which is good for baby. you have to understand that the more that you consume in one day or night is going to take a toll on your baby's life. goodluck

Please do not drink while you are pregnant. They have no idea how many drinks it takes for the effects of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. Some women that have children with it say they only drank occasionally. It is never good. If you want a healthy child I suggest you don't drink.

isnt it funny,, the doctors can prescribe ANY medication they want during pregnancy and its ok,,,,theres so many different things they say you shouldnt do during pregnancy, that if a person followed alll guidelines, youd have to stay away from a microwave,, eggs, and goodness watch where you breathe. Im not saying drinking a beer or 2 is good or bad, theres a lot of different answers from doctors on that too,,,, but some people just really irritate me with all of this do good crap! I seriously doubt you have turned your baby into some kind of a freak! just dont make a habit of it.

Why at 5 months decide to drink? One can goes to your head because you are not used to drinking anymore and the pregnant body is more supsectible to different factors.
Alcohol is not good for your baby it can cause low birth weights and fetal development problems.
