Short bred means they have been recently bred and are far from freshening. Medium isn't a phrase I hear used much but would mean likely half way through like 41/2 months along and long bred means they are dry now and will freshen soon.

Well, I see no one has answered, so, I take a guess. I think this has to do with how well gifted the Bull is, the deeper he can go the longer he breed and thus produces better calves.

I will look for a better answer, but, for now this all I know.
