No, some completely sane men and women turn crops into fuel also. Madmen tend to want to rule to world, the galaxy or the universe depending on how farsighted they are. Most madmen get so busy with killing the neighborhood pets they fail to complete the basic chemistry classes required to master fermentation and distillation. Hope this helps.

Turning crops into fuel is actually a smart idea, since the crops that are converted to fuel are not suitable for human consumption. And the first responder was correct. If you add up the number of available food Calories in the world and divide by the number of people living in the world, there are enough Calories to sustain everyone. The problem is indeed with distribution. The US and the rest of the wealthy nations have more than our share of the available Calories, which is why people elsewhere in the world go hungry.

Your bias is clear, and not very polite. What are you doing personally to help meet the needs of starving people? What percent of your income are you giving to World Vision and other groups effective in alleviating the need? Have you minized your own energy consumption, or do you still squander our precious energy supply to heat or cool your home? Do you travel primarily by bicycle or public transit?
Methanol is a useful fuel and could help reduce our dependence on oil. Corn works for now, but many are working on the much more appropriate alternative of using cellulose and other agricultural wastes instead of corn. But that takes time and investment. Nuclear is another excellent alternative for the near term. Do you have solar panels on your roof? Are you using the sun to heat your water?

This is a no-brainer, the answer is 'YES'. Any crops we're turning into fuel is land that can grow eatible food staples to feed those dieing of starving.

Your bias is clear, and not very polite.
-THEN DEFINE THE BIAS AND RUDNESS WHILE SAVING YOUR RHETORIC FOR YOUR THERAPIST.
What are you doing personally to help meet the needs of starving people?
WHAT IS IT YOUR BUSINESS, ADDRESS THE QUESTION.
What percent of your income are you giving to World Vision and other groups effective in alleviating the need?
AGAIN, WHAT IS THAT YOUR BUSINESS, ADDRESS THE QUESTION.
Have you minized your own energy consumption, or do you still squander our precious energy supply to heat or cool your home?
YES I DO, AGAIN, NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS, ADDRESS THE MORE PERTINANT ISSUE, LIKE THE ETHANOL THAT COSTS MORE TO PRODUCE THAN IT REAPS, WHILE GROWING EATIBLE CROPS WILL SAVE LIVES.
Do you travel primarily by bicycle or public transit?
WHY? ADDRESS THE QUESTION, DUFUS!
Methanol is a useful fuel and could help reduce our dependence on oil.
AT THE COST OF 25,000 LIVES PER DAY? WHERE DOES YOUR REASONING DERIVE FROM? IS IT HEREDITARY?
Corn works for now, but many are working on the much more appropriate alternative of using cellulose and other agricultural wastes instead of corn.
MANWHILE, MORONS ARE TURNING CROPS INTO FUEL IN EXCHANGE FOR 25,000 DAILY DEATHS?
But that takes time and investment.
SO DOES PRODUCING ETHANOL FROM CROPS.
Nuclear is another excellent alternative for the near term.
ADDRESS THE QUESTION EINSTEIN. ROFL
Do you have solar panels on your roof? Are you using the sun to heat your water?
WHY WOULD I DO THAT, I LIVE UNDER A BRIDGE WITH MY WIFI NOTEBOOK AND MY DOG. ROFL!
ADDRESS THE QUESTION DUFUS.

No, only politicians...........
The growth in the Ethanol industry has nothing to do with making us independent of mideast oil supplies because it takes more energy to produce ethanol fuel than it returns (and guess what fuel we use to produce ethanol....it has to be distilled, people!! they use oil, and a lot of it to make ethanol.)
The ethanol industry is is a big political play by the powers that be in Washington. It panders to the midwest farmers, the earth warming extremists, and the environmentalists.
Everyone is cashing in on the government subsidies that are being offered to try to make ethanol fuel competitive with the price of gasoline.
The railroads and truckers love it, too, because it must be shipped in tanker trucks or rail cars...it cannot be pipelined.
I could go on and on on this subject, but it's dinner time here. Think I'll see if I have any frozen corn left.

I don't think sending Soybeans and Horse Corn is going to help starvation. Have you thought of any way to get food to those in countries that don't allow it to come in? Get over it! The Bible says their will always be the poor.
