I would prefer to live in a quaint country college town. i would not refer to it as a lonely village. but if i have to choose from the above options, I would have to chose a village.

Big city life. I love the big city. Interacting with people, big time shopping, getting noticed, not everyone knows who you are. I enjoy living in the fast lane. Sometimes you may get stuck in a crowd but if your born to stand out that is not a problem. In a lonely village I wouldnt survive because living in a small population where everyone knows you if you make a mistake everyone knows about it and if they don't like you, you are all by yourself and you can't socialize which is horrible.

Definitely a village. Big cities are too crowded, too busy, no fresh air, can't see the stars at night, can't smell freshly mowed grass, not as much (if any) room for vegetable or flower garden, can't take a peaceful walk in the pasture or woods, pets don't have their own yard to play in, etc. etc. etc. Small town or village life doesn't have to be lonely if you find things about it to appreciate.

Cities can be far more lonely than a "village" or small town. It all depends on ones mindset and circumstances. I currently live in a city, and it's nice, but I prefer rural and wilderness areas.

I would choose big city life. I just can't bear to be lonely. I get scared. ^_-
