Im looking at going back to school. What is the starting salary for a vet and a vet asst. and is it worth the amount of school hours that you need for a DVM?

It's tougher to get accepted into a professional veterinarian school than it is to get into a medical school. You are going to need at least a 3.8 GPA at a top university to get into vet school. The pay for vets is easily over $80,000 a year. For vets assist. with five years experience about $45,000 or more, depending on the vet hospital.

it depends on whether or not they own their own veternary business.. my friend from college was pretty rich and her dad was a vet.. however, make sure you have a back-up plan.. I've heard that it's one of the most competative fields out there.. I have heard of people who became doctors because they couldn't get into veternary school.. seriously, it's that tough.. if you don't have a 4.0 from a respectable college and a nice variety of extra-curricular activities you probably won't have a chance.. even with all that, you still might need connections to get accepted..
