An uncontested divorce is where one party files and the other party doesn't contest the filing or does not show up for the proceedings at all.

An annulment I believe means it was like you were never married and can usually only be done if the marriage lasted a short period of time.

There are two types of divorces:Contested and Uncontested I've found a pretty decent and simple breakdown of the two on a website that I'll list in the source box. "Contested divorces are a common scenario, given that there are numerous issues to be worked out between a couple that has decided to break their union. Some of these issues are sensitive subjects such as: Custody of children and child support Division of assets and property Allocation of debts Alimony Uncontested Divorce A divorce is uncontested when the partners seeking to terminate their marriage agree on each and every item and issue related to the ending of their marriage. This does not necessarily mean that the divorce is amicable, but merely that all disputes between husband and wife were resolved outside of the courtroom. "

An uncontested divorce is one in which the spouses agree on the grounds for the divorce (usually one year's separation) as well as custody, access, support, division of property and debts. The spouses file the necessary forms with the court and a judge reviews the forms in his or her office. There is usually no need for a court hearing.

An annulment is a Court order saying that a marriage never existed. Annulments are rare. Generally, they are only granted if the marriage was invalid for some reason, such as where one spouse was already married to someone else, was too young to consent to marry, did not have the required mental state to consent to marry, or was forced to marry. An annulment can also be granted if one spouse is unable to have sex because of a physical or psychological problem that existed at the time of the wedding.

If your marriage is annulled, you have the same rights as any other spouses to custody, access, support, and a division of property and debts.

A legal annulment is not the same as a religious annulment that permits you to remarry within your church. If you want a religious annulment, contact your church.

Uncontested divorce is the way most people divorce. It's simple and inexpensive, and it offers you and your spouse the chance to end your marriage quietly.

Annulments are usually granted within the first few weeks with the marriage Not being consummated(you haven't had sex) Uncontested is when you both agree to the terms and just want out. Both of which are the cheapest and. fastest!!! A contested is long and drawn out and very expensive.

Uncontested means that the other party never files a response or you agree in some manner such as a MSA (marital settlement agreement) and it's collaborative.

An annulment only happens under special circumstances and the court deems it was never a legal marriage, such as fraud or a bigamous marriage- some states may allow short lived marriages to be annulled.

An uncontested divorce is where neither side is accusing the other of anything, but they both amicably want out of the marriage.

An annulment is different in that it is a declaration that the marriage was never valid in the first place.

Both achieve the same effect: You're not married anymore.

Aside from the answers already given this is the least expensive way to go. And you should do it right away before anyone talks to a lawyer.
