my uncle has just died in spain. he was from the uk but moved to spain in 2003. he hasnt left a will. he has money in accounts in spain and also a uk bank account

does anyone know if we can deal with the uk bank account under uk law and then the spanish accounts under spanish law
also does anyone know how hard it will be to get the spanish stuff sorted intestate and what sort of problems we might incur.

If he was domiciled in Spain, that is to say if he was a permanent resident of Spain, his estate would be administered according to Spanish law.

The administrator of the estate in spain should be able to close the bank accounts in the United Kingdom with the presentation of official court papers, together with a certified translation, to the bank in the UK.
