L.T. is prodigious, but can he (and will he) do it all over again, or are the Chargers going to drift back into mediocrity, having blown their one shot while they ranked #1?

I think they will be something to watch out for. The Chargers came so close and are hungry, just like Indy this year hungry from the year before, and Indy wasn't that good this year really. They did lose a Head coach but if he couldn't win LT and the team that had been given him, maybe it was for the best. SD signed a coach that has worked with LT before, which will make him better. Phillip Rivers is a year older which will make him much better, too. They signed some LB's and re-signed Shawn Phillips, which will help. Cutting Terrance Kiel won't hurt so much, because you have a 5 Yr player in Clinton Hart, but expect them to pick up a Safety in the draft. I also expect them to pick up at least one good WR in the draft or to free agency. I wouldn't worry too much about LT getting hurt, it hasn't been much of a problem yet, and I don't think it will. His running style doesn't make him take too many hits and he's tough anyway.

They are a solid team. Their defense doesn't give up many points and their offense doesn't turn the ball over. That usually isn't a fluke.

The real test this year will be the new coaches. Norv Turner has not had any real success in the NFL. Also, they have a new defensive and offensive coordinator. Getting a feel for the new system will be key.

At the end of the year, I think the Chargers will finish second in their division behind Denver and slide into the 6th wild card spot in the playoffs. No fluke here...

remember a few seasons ago the seahawks had an unbelievable season but didnt win it, they had a unbelievable season form a running back (shaun alexander) like LT, a good quarterback (matt hasselbeck) like philip rivers. the seahawks didnt live up to expectations the next year when alexander got injured at the start. the chargers could do the same thing next year as seattle did last year. the chargers have a great defense with shawne merriman, though seattle didnt. also the chargers are very young. but if LT gets injured thet'll have to go to the passing game and there wide recievers arent great although they have antonio gates he cant catch every ball. also turner might leave. seattle were in a very similar position but i think the chargers are better and could go further next season but new england will win it.

The Chargers were a one time deal. Their QB isn't sh*t. That was proven when the Chargers would play good teams. The ONLY reason they were ranked # 1 last season is because of LT. However this year, they have all new coaches and they are going to suck. The Broncos would have beat them last year if Cuttler started the whole year. Broncos will get them this year though.

They will be one of the best teams in the league for about 3-4 years. It's just the way that the league works. Rivers can only get better and the will not get rid of LT. Plus, their line is very good. However, they lost their coaching staff which, if they suck, that will be their downfall. Adjusting to a new system.

San Diego also had the #1 defense in the NFL and a young QB who showed he can get it done. The Chargers will be a playoff team for several years to come.

Some years a team gets everything working their way. Few turnovers, few injuries, etc. I think the Chargers are good but not a dominating team and all of those X-factors are crucial. I do not see it all flowing positively for them again this year.

I feel they will do great. With the talent that they have returning from last season, I don't believe they will "drift back" at all. This is still Marty's team that he built so I think they will be good for at least the next two seasons.

They went from having one of the worse head coaches to getting one even worse than him, so I'm going with fluke...
they are a good team but no leadership on the coaching staff. Turner is a great coordinator but a HORRIBLE head coach. How many times does he need to prove that?????

i like the chargers a lot, but in all honesty i'm not too fond of their coach. i have criticized his playcalling many times in my life. he might have a turn around though with the talent the chargers have, but it all starts with coaching. i think they'll make the playoffs with a 9-7 record.
